Tragedy at Columbine High School, Littleton Colorado

Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado was the scene of another school shooting of tragic proportions. The gunmen, Eric Harris,18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, were two students clad in black trench coats and killed 12 schoolmates and a teacher. These two students of Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado were members of a dark group of outcasts called the "Trenchcoat Mafia."

Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris hurled insults at Jews, blacks and Hispanics at Columbine High School in Littleton Colo.. But they REALLY hated the athletes, who had power and popularity _ everything they didn't. ``All jocks stand up!'' one of the attackers yelled during their murderous spree Tuesday. ``We're going to kill every one of you.'' They killed 13 people in the deadliest school massacre in recent years. Then Klebold and Harris turned their guns on themselves.

Their interest in Hitler and World War II was well known around school. The massacre took place on Hitler's birthday.

School Shooting Leaves Many Puzzled

. Today's teen-agers, she says, are accustomed to a life of instant results _ press a button, something happens. But a very few take that to murderous extremes: Pull a trigger, and your problems go away.

Does this explain why America has been forced to watch, in ever growing horror, as kids have sprayed bullets in Oregon and Arkansas, Kentucky and Colorado?

The mayhem at Littleton shows that ``something is wrong with America,'' said conservative activist Gary Bauer, declaring his presidential candidacy on Wednesday.

Too many kids have access to too many guns, educators and experts say.

Franklin Zimring, a professor at Boalt School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley, says He does not think these shootings represent any major fissure in the American soul.

Why the Denver School Massacre? [Editor - No longer online]
Short sermon by Mike Paulson-- Touchet Baptist Church

Below are a  few e-mail letters this editor has received from Christians who take the time to comment on the sad situation of the world here in these "last days".

"Another terrible school shooting by a group of disaffected boys acting out of anger in a murderous act of violence makes headlines in the media again. As is customary the people will send in grief counselors; we will seek comfort through prayer vigil to a unknown God; propose more restrictive firearms legislation; provide more anger management and student counseling initiatives and focus on parental responsibilities. And we as a people will still feel anger, confusion, grief and anguish over another "senseless" tragedy besetting our school systems. I remember when I attended public school in the 1950's every morning the teacher would start the day with prayer and Bible reading. The Ten Commandments was posted in the classroom and the Gideons were allowed into the schools to distribute Bibles to anyone who wanted one. ( In those days Coke gave out free wooden rulers and Cab companies gave out pens and whistles.) Unfortunately our public educators removed all vestiges of our Judaeo-Christian heritage and embraced a secular humanistic evolutionary stance for the so- called betterment of our students. No wonder a great number of our youth are alienated; are suicidal; have problems with substance abuse; quick to anger and violence and vandalism; have mental problems; lack respect for their parents and society; have no purpose or direction in life and have a low self-esteem and feel worthless. In conclusion until our nation, culture and society seek to know The Father, Son and Holy Spirit through His Bible and seek the Wisdom in God's word all other man- make and intellectual solutions to society's ills are only Band-Aids to a much larger spiritual answer."

"Listen to the excuses is not even a day and already the media is blaming the school officials and police. WHERE ARE THE PARENTS of these little thugs? How could they not know

what was going on? (That's pretty easy to figure out actually) The blame lies squarely on the parents of these brutes, and on the murders themselves! The cure - only Jesus Christ and the Cross, will solve these problems."

I am saddened by the shootings in Littleton. My prayers are with all the families and friends of those who lost loved ones. This is a quote from Martin Luther.

Each generation is worst than the last. I greatly fear for my grandchildren for when their generation comes of age. GOD HELP THEM.

Folks, when the family goes, the nation goes. This nation and its families are gone. The aliens (called out ones) that are still families as defined in scripture are in so great a minority there is NOTHING we can do but go down TRYING. And we WILL go down. The government and the organized church will put us down. (away).

Rom 13:3-7 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

The rulers (government) is not a terror to "good works" but it certainly is to "spiritual works", and this should be expected. The Roman Empire "never" had God in their government until Constantine came along. THIS, folks, was the beginning of the Holy Roman Empire, that is the Roman Catholic Church. Only thing-- our government has got to where it refuses to execute wrath on some evil doers (politicians) and "very little" wrath on others, (fraud-embezzlers-saving & loan scandal ect.) and "much wrath" on him that stand for righteousness. (hate crime bill to sensor speech against sodomites-euthanasia-RICO , an anti-racketeering law) applied to abortion protestors.)

After two days of praying I have come to the conclusion that I must add my voices to those raised in horror and outrage. When an event of this magnitude occurs, it shakes us to our very foundations. The questions have an eerie echo from one school shooting to the next. How could this have happened? How can we prevent this from happening again? In a desperate attempt to make sense of this madness we ask the children themselves to explain. Nationwide, we as parents have collectively abandoned our children, too often we ask children to raise themselves with a minimum of parental involvement. The Bible says that we as Christians are to blame for the state of our country. II Chronicles 7:14 makes the following promise from God. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." We can no longer ignore our responsibilities to our God, country, and children. Parents must take the steps to pray, not only for their children, but also for the children that they may not yet be aware of. We have become so isolated from other people that often we do not know the people from our own neighborhoods. This is not a problem that the government can solve. It is a battle we must be a part of because our children are at stake, we MUST open our eyes and join in the war being waged. The only way to win is for Christians to behave the way that the world knows we should. For too long we have hidden our light from everyone except the people that attend our own church. The time has come to take a stand. If we fail to take a stand, how will we be able to answer when God asks for an accounting of our lives? The most precious gifts God has entrusted to our care are our children. We dare not fail, if not for our own sakes then for theirs.

School Shootings Sign of the Time?
Whether or not the shooting in the Littleton, Colorado H. S. indicates we are nearing the end of our present sorry period of rebellious (against our Creator) human history or not I do not know. But, certainly all the adjectives used in II Timothy 3:1-3 could be used to describe the killers. The air waves and the print media will now have lots of Wise Men called Ph.d's (stands for piled higher & deeper) illustrating what the Lord described as, "Ever learning, and never able to came to the knowledge of the truth." II Tim. 3:7 The last thing the news room, TV & radio editors will allow to reach the eyes/ears of the readers/viewers will be the commentator who will affix the responsibility to our government created Godless society. In the era in which my generation went to school there was a large framed plaque on the wall which displayed the Holy Law of a Holy God. His Word says of His Law it was, "a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ." How fitting that it should have been displayed in our nations schools. But the anti-Christ judges placed in the courts by our anti-Christ leaders defied the Constitution and removed that Holy restraining force in the 1960's. Robert Winthrope was a great statesman and The Speaker of the House in early America. He said, "Men in a word must be controlled by a power within them or by a power without them. Either by the Word of God, or by the strong arm of man. Either by the Bible or by the bayonet." If you could see a graph of discipline problems in schools throughout the later half of this century you would see a dramatic increase from the point of removal of the Commandments to the present. Today our leader is an accused rapist, a known deviate and perjurer, who after such a tragedy goes on TV to say, "in the words of Saint Paul…" By the way isn't it interesting the media at last tells the truth about something and calls those guilty, murders and killers. At the same time our military is daily forced to visit death and destruction from the skies upon a sovereign nation who was a wonderful ally during World War II. It is a wonder they don't refer to the Littleton incident as "a bombing mission with some collateral damage." I'm not much on videos but you all need to see, Wag the Dog. Last Tue. Our military bombed the TV broadcast towers to keep the Serbs from continuing to play that one.

I have one particular thought regarding this tragedy in Colorado: See what happens when you take God out of school? My heartfelt prayers go out to all the families there. Such tragedy is beyond words. But to reiterate my point.... we have all these people who are against prayer in school, religion oriented T-shirts, and virtually anything that displays to the other students, " I believe in Jesus". We all need to pray that children will continue to have the right to pray in school. We never know how one simple act of Christianity can affect someone else. Even something as simple as the name of Jesus printed on a shirt, may just get someone thinking, "I wonder what this Jesus is all about". It may even lead to a life changing experience! Thanks for your time in reading this.

I was shocked when I turned on the news this past Tuesday after I got home from school. At first when I heard the words "school shooting" I was not surprised, but I had never seen anything like this. I'm a senior in high school with only 15 more days left and when I saw the seniors and other students crying and asking why, it broke my heart. Do we as students have to live in fear of just going to school every day? The direction our country is going in keeps going further and further in the wrong direction. How long do we have to wait for God to act? How much worse are things going to get before our country faces judgment? My heart goes out to those of Littleton, they must be wondering where God is. They must be wondering if there is a God who cares. I hope and pray that they would rely on God, because they won't make it through this tragedy unless they do. I'm sure that the cries of that city are reaching God's ears. My prayers are with them.

I have listened to interviews and talk programs from various people and places on both Canadian and USA stations. There is talk about the toll, prevention and what can be done for protection. Police, politicians and people from various strata of the public have expressed themselves. The problem is we have a humanistic society that thinks it can handle anything with man-made planning and programs. I have never once heard any reference to God and the Bible and prayer in the multitude of words.

I shall briefly define what I believe to be the cause and cure of this and many other ills of our nations. We allowed God's Word and prayer to be forced out of the Schools and much public life. When you turn your back on God he will turn His back on you. We have allowed the young people to be brainwashed by the devil with rock music that advocates sex, drugs and suicide. Films, videos and entertainment go full tilt on violence, murder, rape, shoot-ups, and blow-ups and give them all the know how to reproduce these tragedies in real life. Many youths have too much time, too much money, and too little training [that the Bible commands parents to do] and parents are too engrossed in their business, pleasure and money making and spending to give the kids any kind of priority at home. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord". We are seeing this in reverse. God who blessed both our nations in earlier days has been crowded aside and replaced by new gods of men- money, sex, education, science, sports, entertainment.

True it takes a lot of false gods to try to replace the real true and living God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. But all false gods have no blessing to give. I fear we have little or no hope of improvement because it is obvious that " God is not in their thoughts." For truly saved people there is the hope of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the only one that can bring peace and stop wickedness. We could call for an overwhelming invasion of bold, fearless, Bible believing preachers who would preach the whole counsel of God nationwide and call these nations back to God and the Bible. II Chronicles 7:14 has the answer but who would have or make the time to listen, and who would be willing to pay the price? We are so far-gone that I fear we will continue to pay that other price as so recently in Colorado. More could be said but who would take the time to read a long article? If you read all of this thanks!
