Jasper County Gruesome Murder
Sin stimulated and believed to be racially motivated

Three white men with suspected ties to the Ku Klux Klan are jailed on murder charges in the death of Byrd, 49, who was black. Law officers and prosecutors are trying to build a state criminal case that threatens the death penalty against the trio.

Lawrence Russell Brewer, 31, Shawn Allen Berry and John William King, both 23, are jailed without bail.

"It is our hope that the perpetrators of this crime receive a quick and speedy trial and that justice, in this case, is both swift and deliberate," said Kweisi Mfume, president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. "These cowards should never walk the street again as free men."

[CNV Editor] Right on! If these perpetrators are found guilty of this crime, they should receive a quick and speedy trial with justice both swift and deliberate.

The secular government is a power set up God Himself.

Rom 13:I Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. (KJV)

Rom 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. (KJV)

Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: (KJV)

Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. (KJV)

Rom 13:5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. KJV)

Rom 13:6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.(KJV)

Rom 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.(KJV)

We must obey the laws of the land unless these laws conflict with God’s laws.

Acts 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, (KJV)

Acts 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. (KJV)

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. (KJV)

Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson was scheduled to meet today with Byrd's relatives in the timber town, then hold a news conference afterward.

"My heart goes out to the family of James Byrd. This is a heinous crime," Jackson said. "This kind of senseless crime is a painful remainder that as a nation we have so very far to go in addressing our racial problems.

[CNV Editor] All Nations have racial problems. The Gentiles have hatred for the Jews. The Croats have hatred for the Serbs, ect. (See "The Slaughter of the Serbs." Chapter 20 of: "A Woman Rides the Beast," by Dave Hunt)

The racial problem won’t go away until the sin problem does. Not much hope for this Nation, is there?

"I appeal to the American people -- whether they live in Jasper, Texas; Paducah, Ky., or Jonesboro, Ark.; Springfield, Ore., or elsewhere -- to stop the violence and the senseless killing, and accept the moral challenge to live together peacefully," Jackson said.

[CNV Editor] Jesse Jackson is addressing the recent and escalating bias of school shootings, which is indicative of the moral decline of our nation.

Down and down and down we go, where we stop—Christians know. We stop when the "Righteous Ruler" comes to rule with a rod of iron for 1000 years. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

The crime scene on Tuesday was marked by more than 75 red spray-painted circles where police found Byrd's body parts and possessions. His head, neck and right arm were found about a mile from his mangled torso.

"I couldn't recognize him," said Wyland Hadnot, a friend of Byrd's who found the remains. "I looked and I looked. I looked three or four times."

Byrd had been walking home from a niece's bridal shower Saturday night and apparently accepted a ride from his attackers.

Authorities gave this account:

Berry told police he and his companions were riding around in his truck when they saw Byrd walking down the dirt road and offered him a ride. King objected because of Byrd's race, but they picked him up anyway, and all four went to a convenience store. King then got behind the wheel and drove to an isolated area. There, the defendants got out and Brewer and King started beating the victim. Byrd was chained to the truck and dragged.

The body was discovered Sunday morning about 10 miles away from his apartment.

[CNV Editor] A speedy trial and the swift death of these three men, if found guilty of this hideous crime in a court of law, would be the Biblical authority God granted to the government.

Hate crime or not, murder must be punishable by a swift death for the good of the public.
