Some Studies on Genesis
(Please understand that these are only "expanded" Bible Study "summaries".)

Gen 1:3-5And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Gen 1:16-19 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Notice that Light was created on the first day and the Sun, Moon and Stars were created on the fourth day. The earth couldn’t have been revolving around the sun until the fourth day because there was no sun to revolve around. I believe God was the light of the world in Genesis 1:4 just as He will be the light of the new world in

Rev 21:23 "And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof"

When Adam & Eve sinned, notice Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the Serpent. Neither one was prepared to take the blame.

Gen 3:12-13 "And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat". Sound familiar?

After Adam & Eve sinned they realized they were naked. And the first death on earth took place.

Gen 3:21 "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them".

Already blood was shed because of sin. Already animals were sacrificed because of sin. The very first picture of the future redemption by Jesus Christ.

Another point. Jesus Christ came from the line of Seth before the flood.
Luke 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

He came from the line of Shem, after the flood.
Luke 3:36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,

Gen 11:10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

Shem was born while Noah was building the ark. It took 120 years to build the ark and Shem was 98 years old when the flood came.

How long did it take Noah to prepare the ark? I believe it took 120 years.

Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Was not 120 years the new reduced human life span?

The 120 years was not the "new" human life span, as some argue; it was the Flood generation's last period of grace before the disaster.

Abraham lived to be 175 years old. Genesis chapter 11 lists many men who lived 300-500 years old.

Gen 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Gen 6:1. The increase of mankind: Men began to multiply upon the face of the earth. When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth. (Prov 29:16) The more sinners the more sin. Also in the New-Testament church, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring (Acts 6:1), and we read of a nation that was multiplied, not to the increase of their joy. (Isa. 9:3) Large families need to be well governed, lest they become wicked families.

Gen. 6:2 Mixed marriages: The sons of God (that is, the professors of religion, who were called by the name of the Lord, and called upon that name), married the daughters of men, that is, those that were profane, and strangers to God and godliness. The offspring of Seth did not keep by themselves, as they ought to have done, for the preservation of their own purity. They intermingled themselves with the excommunicated race of Cain: They took them wives of all that they chose. But what was wrong in these marriages?

(1.) They chose only by the eye: They saw that they were fair, which was all they looked at.

(2.) They followed the choice that their own corrupt affections made. They took all that they chose, without advice and consideration.

(3.) The result was that in marrying "strange" wives they were unequally yoked with unbelievers. (2 Cor 6:14) This was forbidden to Israel. (Deut. 7:3-4). It was the cause of Solomon's apostasy (1 Kings. 11:1-4), and was of bad consequence to the Jews after their return out of Babylon, (Ezra 9:1-2). Note, Professors of religion, in marrying both themselves and their children, should make moral sense of keeping within the bounds of profession. The bad will sooner defile the good than the good reform the bad. Those that profess themselves the children of God must not marry without his consent, which they don’t have if they join together with his enemies. (unbelievers)

Some believe these "sons of God"were" fallen angels".
Why I believe these "sons of God" were saved men and "daughters of men" were lost women.

Angels do not marry.
Matt 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Angels do not have bodies.
Heb 1:7And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

Sons of God refer to angels in Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7. 1 They refer to saved men in John 1:12; Rom 8:14 and 19; Php 2:15; 1 John 3:1 and 3:2. Sons of God refer to saved angles and men/women

Gen. 6:4 These giants were not a result of the sons of God coming unto the daughters of men. Notice- There were giants in the earth in those days. WHEN? In the days when the sons of God came unto the daughters of men, and also AFTER THAT.

Giants are spoken of in MANY places AFTER the Flood. These are spoken of in Numbers, Deut., Joshua, 2 Samuel, and I Chronicles.

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Those who would not be servants to their Maker and his will in their first estate were made captives to his justice, and are reserved in everlasting chains, under darkness. See what the condition of fallen angels is. They are in chains, bound under the divine power and justice, bound over to the judgment of the great day. Yhey are under darkness, though once angels of light; so horribly in the dark are they that they continue to fight against God, as if there were yet some small hope at least left them of prevailing and overcoming in the conflict.

These angels are held in everlasting bonds. They are reserved for hell. (lake of fire). No salvation is offered to them. They are in EVERLASTING chains. Mankind is in chains because of sin, but not everlasting chains, for God offered mankind a way out through His Son Jesus Christ.

These angels are in the WORST of darkness. They will NEVER repent. They STILL think they can win out over God. Their chains are called everlasting, because it is impossible they should ever break loose from them, or make an escape; they are held fast and sure under them. God decreed that they would go to hell. It is IMPOSSIBLE for them to repent.

The letter of Jude tells of the wrath of God on those that disobey Him.
