7-Adultery; -The Inconspicuous Silent Sin.

Hello Folks

Maybe some of you folks have heard the saying,” When the Devil reminds you of your past; remind him of his future.”

I think it is good for the child of God to remember their sins of the past, ever so often.

King David, the man after God’s Own Heart did.

Ps 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

The word, “ever” in this verse is tamiyd (taw-meed'); Translated in the KJ V as “continual, daily, perpetual, always.”

It does me good to recall my past.  It makes me very humble, and grateful to God for His longsuffering and His mercy. I came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ sometime before my 54th birthday. Do you know how many people die before their 54th birthday?

I sobered up in my 44th year of life here on this earth. (Oct. 21st, 1981)  Do you know how many drunks don’t live that long?  Do you know how many times I could have been killed in a drunken state?  I thank God for His longsuffering in keeping me alive until 1991. (my salvation date).  Here it is 2003, and I’m still kicking and praising His Holy Name.

Here I am, living in America, a free country. I am a free man.  I still have the freedom to worship and speak openly about my God and His Son Jesus the Christ.  I have the freedom to have the CNV web site on the Internet for all the world to see. The Lord God not only saved me from the pits of hell, but He put me to work for Him in a small way.

He now only saved me from the pits of hell and put me to work for Him in a small way, but He made life much more livable and enjoyable for the wife of my youth.  He saved me, my wife Nita, and my three children.

Yes, I want to remember my past.  I KNOW what I was.  I KNOW where I came from.  I KNOW what I did. None of it was worth a dung.  My sins are EVER before me.  They are the thorns in my side that keep me grateful and humble.

Folks, I KNOW where I was going, and I didn’t do NOTHING to get where I am today. I read the Bible.  I believed what I read.  I came to repentance and faith towards God and His Son Jesus Christ.

BUT--I read the Bible before.  Many times I have.  I had a reputation of a man who “knows his Bible”.  I read the Bible drunk and sober, but it never got me anywhere. It never changed me. What did I do different in 1991?  NOTHING.  I was reading the same Bible, the New American Roman Catholic Bible, and something happened.  WHY?  I don’t know, but I’m grateful it did.

GOOD GOD; that’s all I can say.

I get letters all the time about boycotting various businesses for selling products made by countries that persecute Christians and/or hold to slave labor. By buying these products, we are, in a way, having “fellowship” with infidels, they say. I say HOLD ON THERE.

Look who I fellowship with. How ‘bout this ole BODY of mine?  It ain’t saved, you know.  That’s right.  This ole body of mine ain’t going nowhere.  This old body of mine isn’t ever gonna get to heaven.  But look at me.  I LIVE in it. Sickening isn’t it.  It’s still the same old body that used to be a disgusting drunk, doing all the things disgusting drunks do.  Yeah, I sobered up 10 years before I got saved, but I still was a no-good sinner.  Things got somewhat better for the family, but I was still a selfish, self-centered man.

I was eating some Hershey chocolate drops the other day, made in Hershey PA, the good ole USA.  Okay?  But the chocolate beans weren’t grown in the USA. Chocolate beans come from South and Central America. At one time the cacao tree (coca bean) was worshipped by the Mayans, who believed it was of divine origin (cacao is a Mayan word meaning "God Food"). The coca beans are grown and harvested in heathen nations and sold to manufactures here in the United States.

U.S. manufactures are sourcing out more and more of their work to foreign countries as time goes on. What can I do about this? NOTHING.

I believe if I can tolerate living in this sinful body, and feeding this body, and sleeping with this body, I can put up with eating those chocolate chips a bit longer.

 I am CHAINED to this old worldly body. What can I do about this?  SOMETHING.

I work to restrict the lusts of this body.  I work to constrain it. I, like the apostle Paul, put this ole body in subjection to the Spirit. (1 Cor 9:27)  I work to put it in subjection to my regenerated, justified spirit that lives in this body, and to the Spirit of God that lives there too.

This is personal discipline. Walking with God demands personal sacrifice, sacrifice of things not necessarily evil, but that which hinders a proper walk in the Spirit. (Gal 5:16; 5:25)

If “my” spirit hates this ole body so much, think of how the Holy Spirit of God must feel. Come to think about it, the same as my spirit feels, I guess. I am made the “righteousness of God” through Jesus Christ. (2 Cor 5:21) THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.  ME?  Yeah me. Now THAT awes me.

Yeah, I remember back pretty often. I remember WHO and WHAT I was back then, and I am grateful for WHO and WHAT I am today, and HOW and THROUGH WHOM I got where I am today.

Humble? Yes. Meek?  I could use a lot more of meekness. You see, I can tolerate sinners, but the Pharisees of today I cannot.  I HATE hypocrites. Don’t fellowship with Balaam (2 Peter 2:15; Jude 1:11) and call me brother.


The evangelical ministry called “Courage” used to help homosexuals leave their sinful lifestyle, but founder Jeremy Marks says he now offers support to gays trying to live the Christian life. Marks says, “We are saved by grace. . . . I don’t think the assumption is you can’t be gay.” An article in the Beacon Journal (5/31/03) says that

Marks is “one of a small, but growing, number of evangelicals who question the assumption that homosexual behavior is always a sin.” Monogamous homosexual relationships are acceptable, Marks says.

[Editor] Does your Bible read, “tryst to live a Christian life and thou shalt be saved”?  Mine don’t.

Accepted by man; rejected by God.


The number of Christian bands crossing over into the secular music scene is increasing.

The New York Times (6/10/03) has picked up on the emerging popular success of these Christian bands and asked the general manager of (secular mainstream) Columbia Records to comment.

“With some of these bands, it’s actually hard to tell the difference,” he said. One aspiring cross-over artist defends this conformity to the world: “God said, ‘Why send a doctor to those who are well; I’m going to send a doctor to the sick.’ I guarantee you [Jesus] would have been opening up for the Sex Pistols back in the day.”

[Editor]  People have only ONE LIFE to come to the Great Physician, the Lord Jesus Christ, to heal them of their sin.

You know how He does this?  HE KILLS US. (Rom 6:8) Then He raises us up from the dead. (Col 2:12-this speaks of the “visible” manifestation of the  “previous” working of the Holy Spirit) We are born again; (1 Peter 1:23) a new man, (Eph 4:24) IN CHRIST. (Gal 3:27-28-when we come to repentance towards God and  faith towards the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit of God, at that instant, baptizes us INTO Christ.) God puts our spirits IN His Son so we can never sin again.  We become a “member” of Christ’s Body. (1 Cor 12:27) If our spirits would sin again, Christ Himself would have to sin, because we become a “part” of Him.

Our body?  Yeah, it continues to sin some, but you know---this ole body ain’t going nowhere.  It ain’t “never” gonna make it to heaven. (1 Cor 15:50-57

Two Brazilian evangelicals must each pay $300 for violating Brazilian hate crime legislation after they sought to evangelize a public gathering of São Paulo spiritists.

The plaintiffs, the Candomble and Umbanda spiritist groups, argued, “Our organization desires to stop prejudicial practices, since it does not believe that one’s beliefs should be imposed upon another based on the fallacious argument that his are better.” (Compass Direct, 5/16/03)

Bureaucrats in California have ruled against an edition of the popular children’s book The Little Engine that Could because in the illustrations the engine appears to be

male. This and other revelations come from a new book called The Language Police: How Pressure Groups Restrict What Students Learn, by Diane Ravitch.

Because textbook publishers want to sell books to big school systems, Ravitch says they cater to politically correct guidelines. No religious group may be subject to criticism, so even radical Islamists are said to simply want to “return to Muslim traditions.”

The texts compare them with conservative U.S. Protestants. (Commentary,6/03)

[Editor]  Talk about a genderless society, how is it these “Language and Thought Police” have nothing to say about man and man and woman and woman relationships.  These sodomites, if put on another planet, would die out in “one generation”

The Islamists are radical in countries where they are in power and so were the Roman Catholics when they were in power.  I believe the RC Church killed more people in the name of “Christianity” that have the Islamists in the name of “Allah”.


Some psychiatrists at the recent convention want to “normalize” pedophilia, taking it off the official list of mental disorders. One psychiatrist at the meeting compared pedophilia to alcoholism: “We don’t . . . blame someone these days for their alcoholism; we don’t see it simply as a moral weakness.”(, 6/11/03)

[Editor]  I blame myself for my former alcoholism, and so did God.  Know that?  We Christians do not want to go to that “Great Physiological Clinic” in the sky, so why would we let them, the psychiatrists, define sin for us.

No, the world teaches that one does not sin.  Sin is a disease and must be treated.  It is not one’s fault, or sin is not a sin because God made them that way.

The world says; don’t blame me and I won’t blame you, and we’ll meet again some day”.


 I talk like Him, because I say what He says. Hey, I’m even beginning to look like His Son more and more every day, (2 Cor 3:18)  One of these days I’m gonna even BE like Him.(1 John 3:2) Like Father, like son.


Adultery;- The Inconspicuous Silent Sin.

There are many more adulterers in the church today than there are drunks.  Yes there is.  What is being done about this?  NOTHING. What is being said about this?  NOTHING.  Is the sin of adultery preached against in the churches quite often? NO.  WHY. Because adultery in the church has become “common place” among it’s members and even it’s clergy.  That’s why.

Drunkenness is a rather unambiguous, lucid sin. This sin is more rarely seen in the churches even though it is so apparent in the community when one is a drunk.  THIS sin is preached against in the churches quite often.  Churches, especially Baptist churches, think even “moderate” drinking is a “grievous” sin.

Do you know there are more adulterers in the churches than drunks?  Do you know that God hates adultery as much, or more, than He does drunks?  Drunks do not cause others to become willful, habitual sinners, but adulterers do.

Matt 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her/him to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her/him that is divorced committeth adultery.

THIS is the ONLY passage in the Bible that speaks of one causing another to sin, except for the verse that speaks of outlandish women causing King Solomon to sin the sin of Idolatry. (serving other gods-Nehemiah 13:26)

I know folks that are “proud” of their parents, even though one or the other is living in adultery as “supposed” spouse number 3 or 4. There is no one speaking out against this sort of lifestyle here but me.  Surely not the children of these adulterers, and not the Baptist churches that they attend. NO ONE seems to care.

You may have heard the old saying; “blood is thicker than water”.  Well-- in this case, blood is thicker that obeying God, to the families of these adulterers.

Would these same people be ashamed and embarrassed by these parents if they were community drunks?  You bet they would. They would be speaking to them too, about their sin.

Why, many drunks are not nice, friendly, helpful people when they are drunk, and many adulterers are so. Look on the “outward” appearance is what they do.  These are Christians, mind you now.  They KNOW what God says. Yes they do.

The apostle Paul warns the brethren of looking on the outward appearance of man.  He says if we trust that we are Christ’s (saved) and we look at others this way (outward) we had better think again.(2 Cor 10:7)

In Matt 23:27l, the Lord Jesus speaks of the “outward” beautiful appearance of Pharisees who are “within” full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

It is not so easy for a drunk to “hide” his sin as it is for adulterers; but God knows, and they BOTH will end up in the Lake of Fire.  This is not a lake CALLED Fire.  This is a lake OF fire

1 Cor 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, “nor adulterers”, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

1 Cor 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, “nor drunkards”, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Cor 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

And such WERE, (past tense) some of you, the Spirit says. Since they were washed in the Blood of the Lamb and sanctified and justified (saved) THEY AIN”T NO MORE

If a married person commits fornication, this is adultery. If a single person commits fornication, this is illicit sex.  Either way, they BOTH committed fornication

1 Cor 6:16-17 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1 Cor 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

The phrases, “without the body” and “against the body”, are difficult for some; but I believe it tells us that other sins, such as drunkenness, have effects “on” the body, but fornication is a sin wrought “within” the body and involves a monstrous denial of union with Christ by union with the harlot or whoremonger. (anyone other that the wife or husband that GOD hath joined together.)

Drinking is a “pet peeve” of the church, while adultery is “cast aside” as though it were no problem in the churches.

More Christians are divorced than non-Christians, concludes Barna Research Group. A survey of nearly 4,000 adults found that 27 percent of born-again Christians have been divorced--compared to 24 percent of others. Within the denominations surveyed, Baptists had the highest divorce rate (29 percent) and Catholics had the lowest (21 percent). The rate for nondenominational Christians was 34 percent, while for atheists and agnostics it was 21 percent. George Barna said that the statistics follow a pattern that has existed for some time (Charisma News Service, 12/23/99).
