Excerpts from an article in the Dallas Morning News, 8/24/2002
Excerpted article in quotation marks "-"

"The Texas Freedom Network began its Fundamentalism Education Project. More than 500 people came together Monday at South Main Baptist Church for a one-day conference titled 'Fundamentalism's Threat to Democracy.'"

"They applauded calls for support of gay rights and laughed at jibes at the "radical Right." But they also nodded approvingly at readings of Bible verses and offered fervent "amens" to arguments that religion has a vital place in public life. "

[Editor] Religion has ALWAYS played a vital role in public live. The first I heard of "religion" was way back in Genesis 4:3-4. By the way; notice where this conference is being held.

"The conference also brought together Jewish, Christian and Muslim scholars to discuss how relatively recent, conservative movements that they group under the heading of "fundamentalist" have affected each faith. Organizers said they wanted to identify common elements in each faith and to offer answers to attacks from groups they characterized as the Religious Right. "

"The Texas Freedom Network is a nonprofit organization formed in 1995 to counter what members call a 'growing social and political influence of religious political extremists.'"

[Editor] Do you see what the definition of "Fundamentalist" is rapidly turning to be? The BAPTIST SPONSORED group attending the conference included clergy and lay members from a variety of denominations and religions including Jewish and Muslim

"Some of Monday's speakers described themselves as moderates. Some even called themselves liberal. Ms. Armstrong styled herself a 'freelance monotheist.' " (a person believing that the god of all faiths are the same god)

"She was careful to point out that both the right and the left identify themselves as victims of the other side."

"Ms. Armstrong said, 'Every single fundamentalist movement is convinced that modern, secular, liberal society want to eliminate religion - even in the United States.' "

[Editor] Modern secular liberal society is not out to eliminate "religion", and neither is the modern secular liberal government.

No way, folks! It is the modern liberal SECULAR "church" that is out to destroy/eliminate CHRISTIANITY, not religion. The Christianity that I speak of here is the ONE & ONLY faith founded on the FOUNDATION which is JESUS CHRIST, the Son of the living God.

"But those on the other side of the spectrum also believe they need to defend themselves, she said. "

" 'Our hearts are rather sort of hard, too, because we feel we're under attack - just as they do,' she said."

"James Forbes, senior minister of The Riverside Church in New York City, says. '"I propose to show that, out of love of all God's children and in providential care for the world, God is gathering an interfaith company of believers to proclaim a theology of divine righteousness which demands justice, respect, tolerance, compassion, inclusiveness, trust in the ultimate efficacy of divine zeal, and the rigorous pursuit of peace in the midst of competing interests and faith claims through the power of God's enabling grace," he said. "

"The challenge is to come up with a way to do interfaith work without denying the particular claims of each faith, he said."

"I'm a Bible-believing Christian," he said. "This is calling me out of my cozy comfort zone."

[Editor] The man is a LIAR and a charlatan. NONE OF THE ABOVE is taught in the Christian Bible

INTERFAITH-A common belief system. A higher power. A mystical/mysterious god of some form; however we envision that form/being to be. However, this god is taught to be one & the same, even though some belief systems claim he had no son and others do not BELIEVE His Son. (James 2:19)

There is much talk about the power of God's enabling grace. A lot of good THAT will do if one don't have it, and the ONLY way to receive it is through God's Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more "the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ", hath abounded unto many.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

[Editor] So heaven bound believers receive grace through faith? Yep; sure do. But NOT by BELIEVING in God. We receive grace through faith in Who? JESUS CHRIST, that's Who.

You say, but….but….,Grace comes FROM God. Yes it does. But this God given grace needs a "channel" to get to us FROM God, and God decreed that it can ONLY come THROUGH FAITH in the Person and Work of His Son Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

1 Tim 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ

The cemeteries of the Faith once delivered to the saints. - Jude 1:3
By Andy Neckar

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Where did these certain men come from? How did they creep in?

These certain men came with "credentials". They came into the churches and behind the pulpits with the alphabet after their names. They came with the Name of Christ "before" their names. They call themselves "Reverend".

Ps 111:9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

Why is it that the Holy Spirit of God cannot teach a man anything anymore? (John 14:26) Has the Holy Spirit of God lost His power to teach? Just suppose He has also lost His power to "seal". (Eph 1:13; 4:30)

Oh, yes, the Bible does teach us to study. (2 Tim 2:15). The Bible does instruct us to study and teach others. We are to commit the faith "once" delivered to the saints to other "faithful men" (gender sensitive-1 Tim 2:12) who shall be able to teach others. (2 Tim 2:2)

The apostle Paul did not start a religious school to teach Timothy the Scripture. Timothy learned from Paul as Paul went about his missionary work and from the written words of Paul. I do not recollect reading of Timothy receiving a diploma or certificate of any kind from Paul.

Acts 18:24-26 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

The way of salvation was now, "... repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." (Acts 20:21) and belief in the gospel of Christ. (Rom 1:16) Apollos knew only the baptism of repentance. (Mark 1:4; Luke 3:3)

Do you think Apollos went to the seminary of Aquila and Priscilla for 2, or perhaps 4 years of study before he could go out and teach others? As for me and my house, we don't think so. (Me & Mom)

Our churches are being "led away" from the faith once delivered to the saints by men and women trained up in the way the devil wants them to go. These disciples of their father the devil are graduates of the Seminaries of Satan, and they go and make a former Christian Church the Synagogue of Satan.

They say they are Christian Churches but are not. The Lord Jesus has made them the synagogues of Satan. (Rev 2:9; 3:9)

Take courage though. OUR day is coming. One day they will worship at our feet.

Everyone seems quick to condemn JUST BELIEVING.
Here is what I believe.
By Gregor Crawford

Is belief easy?

There is nothing on earth EASIER for a man do to than to BELIEF.
It is something that ANY man on earth is able to do.
It matters not whether you be male or female, young or old, rich or poor, clever or stupid, black or white, strong or weak, healthy or sick; any man on earth is capable of believing.
God made the way of salvation such that none need be left out.

It is precisely for this reason that many will be left out.
They refuse to accept that God could make such an easy way of salvation.
It is offensive to their PRIDE that God should make it so easy to be saved.
Instead they make it more difficult by adding BAPTISM, WORKS, PRAYER, ENDURING, CHURCH, RELIGION, COMMANDMENTS, LAWS, RULES (the list goes on)

And like the Pharisees of old, they are left outside while the publicans and harlots rush in.
To be saved is no harder than to walk through an open door, if you believe what Jesus said -
"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."
John 10 v 9 The Holy Bible

What does God require of a man to be saved?
Now the scripture clearly says that
BELIEF is what is required.

We will show that by looking at three verses

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on his name:"
John 1 v 12 The Holy Bible

To become a son of God is CONDITIONAL on a man believing on his name.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3 v 16 The Holy Bible

To be saved from everlasting hell-fire and to have eternal life is CONDITIONAL upon a man BELIEVING in Jesus.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and BELIEVETH on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
John 5 v 24 The Holy Bible

If a man fulfils the CONDITION that God lays down, once he has heard the word, he BELIEVES God then the Bible makes clear that that man HATH (present tense) ETERNAL LIFE, and IS (present tense) passed from death to life.

So to have the eternal life is conditional upon BELIEF
What is meant by BELIEF?

The Bible gives its own definition of belief in Romans where it equates believing our report with obeying the gospel.

"But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?"
Romans 10 v 16 The Holy Bible

So if you BELIEVE it also requires that you OBEY the GOSPEL
Two questions arise -
1 What is does it mean to OBEY?
2 What is the GOSPEL?

What does it mean to OBEY?
This is the reason why Paul calls for repentance when he preaches the gospel.
"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now COMMANDETH all men every where to REPENT:"
Acts 17 v 30 The Holy Bible
Simply, it means to do what God told you to do - REPENT.

What is the GOSPEL?

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have RECEIVED, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have BELIEVED in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
1 Corinthians 15 v 1-4 The Holy Bible

The Gospel is -
that CHRIST (the virgin born sinless only begotten Son of the Father, and no other)
that Christ DIED
that Christ died FOR OUR SINS (in my place)
that Christ died for our sins ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES (as the Bible said he would and did die)
that he was BURIED
and that he ROSE AGAIN the third day according to the scriptures.
And the Gospel is RECEIVED by BELIEVING this from the heart (see Romans 10 v 9)

So to BELIEVE (in him, on him, on his name) is to obey the gospel.

That is to recognize that you are a condemned sinner, hell bound and without hope, until God came into this world to be your Saviour as Jesus Christ. God requires that you turn from your sins and turn towards God (REPENT) and put your faith in the gospel that Jesus Christ died in your place, bearing your sin, on Calvary's Cross, and God proved that Jesus had no sin of his own by raising him to life the third day, and if you will trust him, and him alone for salvation, he will give you eternal life.

Unless you have REPENTED (turning from sin toward God) and exercised FAITH in the finished work of Christ on your behalf, you cannot say that you have OBEYED the gospel, and neither can you say that you have BELIEVED on Jesus Christ.

Anything other would be what the Bible speaks of as "believing in vain".

Both REPENTANCE and FAITH are required.
"Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, REPENTANCE toward God, and FAITH toward our Lord Jesus Christ."
Acts 20 v 21 The Holy Bible

That is BELIEF according to the scriptures.

Nothing else is required on mans' part for salvation.
God only wants you to turn round and hold out an empty hand to receive his free gift.
What could be easier than that?

In Christ,
Gregor Crawford
