World Turning Church Upside-down
By Andy Neckar

Great deception is afoot in the church today, happening right before our very eyes. In fact, it may have already come to your church. False doctrines, a different gospel, and even doctrines of demons have been introduced into many churches via a movement that claims to be a movement of God.

The wolves are not even in "sheep's clothing" anymore. They are easily discernible from "true" Christians. The reason these wolves are behind church pulpits and controlling alleged Christian ministries is because the "people" are in "sheep's clothing".(disguised/professing Christians). The "professing Christians" recognize the "professing ministers" as their own kind. The wolves are comfy-cozy, as they are among their own kind. The remnant sheep have been deceived and are ready for the slaughter.

Churches are preaching a false gospel. People from ages past have been in search of religion, and in these last days the churches and ministries are giving them just that-a powerless religion. The saving gospel of Christ is no longer preached in many denominational churches.

This modern religion is weakly similar to the "faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3) to deceive the masses into thinking they are "true" Christians, but in fact it is a "watered down version" of the gospel. This "watered down" version:* Offers God's forgiveness, telling you that all you must do is believe, without any mention of repentance. * Presents Jesus Christ as though He were some mere "additive" to make one's life a little better. * Tells you of Heaven, but leaves out the message of Hell. General William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, wrote of the dangers he saw facing the message of the gospel in the 20th century. Among other things, he saw a "gospel" that would present

* Christianity without Christ;

* forgiveness without repentance;

* salvation without regeneration;

* and Heaven without Hell.

A letter I recently received from a newsletter subscriber tells me he respects me for contending for the faith but cautions me to understand that : "Politically correct or incorrect, the church is already in the final stages of degeneration, and there's nothing you and I, or anyone else, can do to change that. You can't "save" the church."

I tell you, he's right. But I am not trying to save the church. I'm warning God's people in those churches to "come out of her".(Rev 18:4) God's people need to be feed the spiritual food of God's Word. There are many churches that do not offer this spiritual food that enables the believer to grow in faith. Satan knows that if he can feed the sheep "diet food" he will bring reproach to the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is happening throughout the world, but nowhere yet as it is in America. Secular news services must report on religious organizations that call themselves "Christian". ( Many articles by Pensacola News Journal) This is posted on my web page on the "on-line Biblical Resources" page under the topic "The Toronto Blessing ". The religious fraud must be exposed by the media in order that the "world" not be deceived. Get this! The "world" must expose the professing "Christian ministries" to safeguard the people. The government must impose financial accountability on professing Christian ministries (See article "IRS Spurs Nonprofit Disclosure on Internet" Christianity Today January 12, 1998 Vol. 42, No. 1, Page 59) How sad. How disgusting. How true.

Instead of the church having an impact on the world, the world is turning the church upside-down. (Act 17:6)

"Clubs have replaced the prayer meetings, parties are accepted instead of power, dancing substitutes for devotion and piety, amusement is now desired above holiness, membership drives have long since taken the place of revivals and the mourner's bench, the preachers give book reviews, placing emphasis on the 'positive message'. With their 'itching ears' they want jitterbug tunes and are not too keen on the old hymns that were used in the days of great revivals. Look at the average church today and you can see that people are 'lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.' The day of Christ will not come except there be first 'a falling away.' 'Even so, come, Lord Jesus'". (News of Interest 1/18/98)

2 Thess. 2:3 - Let no man deceive you by any means for that day (the day of Christ) shall not come, except there come a falling away (Apostasia) FIRST, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

I would like to bring to your attention that most of the "popular"prophecy teachers are NOT bringing this scripture up anymore. Even though almost all of the past respected commentators, both Protestant and even the Catholic, agreed that the end of this age would find Christendom rife with false prophets, false doctrines and false brethren; most of you have not heard this preached at all in the past 20 years!

It is also necessary for you to realize that the perversion of "the faith once delivered unto the saints" cannot be a reference to the New Agers (who never yielded any allegiance to an historic Gospel), nor can it be a reference to the profusion of weird quasi-Christian Cults, for they have always been with us.

No, the predicted falling away is an apostasy from the faith by the majority of those who did and still do profess an allegiance to historic Christianity. It is clearly predicted in the Bible that at the end of this age, Christendom would NOT be in the midst of a great revival (as many are now saying), but rather, would be Apostate. (Last four paragraphs excerpted from a letter forwarded to me by a subscriber)

If Jesus tarries, will there be any Christians left on this earth to meet Him in the air (rapture) when He comes? If there be any, it will be very few unless He comes soon. Do some of you say?, Ridiculous, there will be aplenty of Christians left to rapture. You wonder why I wonder? Because I discern the signs of the times.(Matt 16:3) You know, Jesus wondered too. (Luke 18:8)

Christ said that the gates of hell shall not prevail against His Church. There WILL be a Church when He comes again, but I believe it will be a very small remnant of the Church of several years ago. FOLKS, JESUS IS COMING SOON. We must be watchful and strengthen each other who remain. (Rev 3:2) Preachers, preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. (2 Timothy 4:2)

Brethren,. Now we exhort you, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thes 5:14-23)

Even so, come Lord Jesus.

God's People In Many Denominations
By Andy Neckar

I wish to clarify one thing, I do not claim that "only one" denomination has eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. God has His people all over the world, in many denominations. But when these "denominations" fall from the faith once delivered to the saints. (Jude 1:3) God calls His people out of them.

We are not only to separate ourselves (in fellowship) from unbelievers but also from willful disobedient brethren. By separating ourselves from willful disobedient brethren we do not judge them to be lost, we are only obeying the commands of our God and Saviour.

Right here in Hico, TX, I have talked to some Church of Christ members who DO NOT believe in Baptismal Regeneration. ( salvation comes through faith AND baptism). I am serious- I believe there are true believers in those churches. I don't know why or how they continue to stay in these churches, but they do. One woman's husband believes in baptismal regeneration, and his wife does not. She won't tell him that though.

I have talked to them together and separately. She does not believe as he (her husband) does. Yet they attend a Church of Christ together each Sunday. I know God has His people all over--in many different denominations-in no denomination--ALL OVER.

Churches (denominations that once were "Christian") have fallen from the faith and are no longer Christian churches.. I believe in "once saved-always saved", but this speaks of individual people, not "denominations" (organizations) .

Many "churches" deny the Virgin birth, the Eternal Son-ship of Christ, the blood atonement, the infallibility of the Bible. Some are ordaining active (unrepentant) homosexuals to the ministry (pulpit) and true believers in those denominations are in fact in Satan's church and God commands his people (if He has any in there) to come out from among them.

2 Cor 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (KJV)

Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. (KJV)

Watch Out for the False Teachers Among You
By Gil Rugh

Paul said that these false teachers (Romans 16:17,18) are effective in deceiving believers. They're effective for two reasons: (1) These false teachers are very effective communicators-'They use smooth and flattering speech to deceive people. (2) Believers aren't paying attention. Believers are unsuspecting. They're [the false teachers] using smooth and flattering speech. They have personal magnetism about them. Our attention gets turned away from what they are saying to how they are saying it, to the impression they are making with their own personality. And when we are put in that situation we turn our attention from the content of what is being taught, and - we open ourselves up to be deceived and turned away from our purity and devotion to Jesus Christ.

Now, one of the ways that believers get deluded is they begin to focus on what they agree with in false teaching, but what is at issue is what we disagree with. Many believers are being deluded today [in this way]. In such a debate [with false teachers], we have to be sure to focus on what we disagree on---we have to be very careful as we are exposed to false teachers.

If we're talking about it being the power of God that establishes us, how do believers get deceived? Did God's power not work for them? You must understand the means of God's power according to the Gospel. The Gospel of God is the message of Jesus Christ. He is the subject of that message. The Gospel includes everything related to His death, burial, and resurrection. The whole book of Romans is a detailed presentation of the Gospel. God's power always works in the context of His Gospel, His revealed Word. That is true not only in the initial salvation of the lost, but the ongoing salvation that the believer experiences [i.e., progressive sanctification]. God's power does not work in the life of God's child to establish them, to firmly plant them, to strengthen them apart from the ministry of the Word of God in that life. If you are not being regularly exposed and taught and saturated with the Word of God, then God's power will not operate to establish you, and you will become a prey to satanic deception.

I hope you have this underlined in your Bible. "There will also be false teachers among you." He doesn't say maybe. We're not talking about the [cults]--we're talking about those that rise from within the Church of Jesus Christ and promote false doctrine. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies. How can you secretly introduce a destructive heresy among believers? Well, you present it under the guise of being truth to believers who are unsuspecting. You present it very cleverly, very smoothly.

We [the Church] are more concerned with our feelings and our experiences than we are with the Truth of God. You better be looking for a place where the Word is believed and taught. That's what the Church is; it's the pillar and support of the truth. Are you looking for friends or are you looking for the truth? We want to corrupt and twist the Church to make it what people want. Come to the church that believes and teaches the truth! God's power does not operate apart from God's Word. If Satan wants to disrupt the work of God in your life, what does he do?---attack the Word, so that the power of God does not work . You could never have been saved apart from the Word of God, and you ought to understand, you can never grow, you can never be firmly planted as a child of God, unless you are constantly, constantly taking in the diet of the pure milk of the Word of God. We must have that imbedded in our hearts and minds. Never be satisfied, never tolerate anything else, than a ministry that is focused in its entirey on the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Is Religious Revival breaking out all across America?
A poll commissioned by the Pew Research Center, which was released Sunday, reported that 71 percent of respondents say they never doubt the existence of God. In 1987, the figure was 60 percent.

The poll also found that 61 percent of Americans believe miracles come from the power of God - this is up from 47% ten years ago. And 53 percent said prayer is important to daily life. In 1987, it was 41 percent.

Touched by an Angel ranks among TV's highest-rated shows. Books on angels, miracles and spirituality, in general, line bookstore shelves.

But at the same time, radio talk show host Laura Schlessinger affirmed Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press that the United States is in the middle of a morality crisis: Americans lack "a moral framework," she said.

If there is a crisis, former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo said on the same program, the governing system is playing a role in it by backing away from what until recently were accepted obligations of the well-off to help the helpless.

"Our government philosophy is moving away from Judeo-Christian principles," Mr. Cuomo said. More and more the government says, "You're on your own," he said.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., agreed and said more government involvement is necessary to increase jobs and take other steps to help strengthen and stabilize the American family.

But the Rev. Jerry Falwell, also appearing on the NBC discussion of morals, countered: "Money is not the cure. More taxes is not the cure. More welfare is not the answer. We've got to preach biblical morality." (Excerpts from "The Dallas Morning News" 12/22/97 Associated Press )

[Editor] America is showing signs of getting "religion" but religion does not save one from eternal damnation.. The "gospel of Christ" not "religion" is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth....(Rom 1:16)

53 percent of American may say that prayer is important to daily life. But folks, 53 percent of Americans are not saved Therefore God does not hear the prayers of "all" who pray. Religious TV shows, and books on spiritually are "not" indicators of "true revival". America's lack of a "moral framework" will testify to that.

Mario Cuomo is wrong. Judeo-Christian principles in our government is not the answer.

Jesse Jackson is wrong. The government "cannot" strengthen and/or stabilize the American family.

Jerry Falwell is wrong. Preaching biblical morality is not the answer. It is impossible for the natural man to behave in a moral manner

1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (KJV)

Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (KJV)

God is right. Preaching the gospel of Christ is the "only" thing that can strengthen and stabilize and moralize the American family. Those who believe this gospel will be forever saved from hell, being "born again" with a regenerate heart. (spirit)

Eph 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; (KJV)

Charismatics Teaching Children
An article in "Religion Today" 1/15/98 says "Churches are finding that God can use children as much as adults. '"They are seeing that children are able to pray and that God can speak through them just like adults -- only better sometimes,"' said Denise McClure of the Children's Global Prayer Movement. The West Palm Beach, Fla., ministry conducts seminars that teach children how to pray."

[Editor] Christ taught His disciples how to pray, but He ascended bodily into heaven and He sent the Conforter to teach us to pray.

Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (KJV)

The article continues by saying that "Children are eager to pray and practice what they have learned. "'They just want to do -- they want to lay hands on and pray for people and see what happens,"' McClure said. Children can be more effective than adults sometimes because they are less contaminated by '"worldly thinking"' and rely more on faith, she said.

[Editor] These children are not so much into prayer according to God's will, they have been taught to be involved to see what "they" can do. They want to experience, experience. Let me put it this way. They are taught to pray to encounter feelings, happenings, adventures.

The article goes on to say "This year, children trained by the ministry will travel with Christians walking through European and Middle Eastern countries asking forgiveness for the sins committed by Christians during the Crusades."

Editor] When the Holy Spirit teaches us to pray He teaches us to pray in "God's will" . Man is teaching these children to pray for forgiveness of sins committed by the Roman Catholic Church (certainly not Christian) centuries ago. We cannot obtain pardon for others sins no more then we can pray one out of hell.. (or Catholicism's purgatory)

The article states that "Children go through the city praying. Led by an adult or a teen-ager, the children pray at the church until they feel God has shown them what area of the city to visit. When they arrive, they begin praying "against negative spiritual forces" and asking God to bless the people living there."

[Editor] I may sound sarcastic to some, but truth is sometimes bitter to swallow for some. How does one pray "against negative spiritual forces"? Are they "binding" Satan? I wrote before that only Christ can bind Satan. The Charismatics are now involving the children in "man's gospel". They are teaching them to "lay hands" and "heal". By the way-God does not bless communities. He blesses His children. We become His children by believing the gospel of Christ. (Rom 1:16)

What is the gospel of Christ, you say? This is the gospel of Christ.

1 Cor 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (KJV)

1 Cor 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (KJV)

1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (KJV)

1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (KJV)

Church Turning to "World" to Solve Problems.
According to a Ft. Worth Star Telegram Religious News article of 1/22/98, members of the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church of Odessa TX went to court to fire their pastor who refused to leave the pulpit after a 17-15 vote was taken by the congregation to fire him.

The pastors attorney told the judge presiding in the case that it takes a 2/3 majority vote to remove a pastor according to the church's constitution, and the judge ordered another vote.

Two lawyers, one representing the pastor, the other representing members who voted for the removal will decide who's eligible to vote and to count the votes.

[Editor] This church is comparable to many churches in America today who are turning to the world to solve affairs of the church. (1 Cor 5-6) Why is this happening? Because the professing Christian church is beginning to embrace the world and place her trust in the world's judgments and her teachings. The vast majority of the world's churches are no longer representative of Christianity.

Just as the Roman Church did centuries ago, the various denominational churches and in many cases independent churches that profess Christianity, are rejecting the teachings of Christ and turning to the opinions (teachings) of man. The next step is to reject Christ as Savior, or at best equate Him along with other means of salvation.

Maryology, Paganology, Enviormentalology, You-name-itology. The world can ogle all it wants. It won't find salvation in none other than Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12)

P.S. I know brother took brother to court in the Apostle Paul's day, but all things happening in the churches today combined are a great cause for concern.

Folks, if you are in a sound church, one that preaches the gospel of Christ and teaches the doctrine of Christ, support it and the pastor. You don't need Promise Keepers to tell you that. Besides, they'll tell you to support your pastor even if he is the devil himself.

The reason some folks can't find a sound church is the same reason a burglar can't find a cop

Suicide Card In Spiritual Tune With Millennium
( Excerpts from the "Daily Telegraph", Saturday 24th January 1998)
HALLMARK, the greetings card firm, is to launch a "suicide" card for those bereaved by a loved-one who takes their own life, writes Charles Laurence, in New York.

The company, which has 44 per cent of the American market, plans to release the first suicide condolence card in April. It said it had tested demand for the card in six cities and found an "overwhelmingly positive" response. Rachel Bolton, company spokesman, said the series "celebrates all experiences, beautiful and painful".

The first design has a light blue background with a cloudy skyline at the front and at the bottom a lone sailing boat on calm water. Its message describes someone fleeing from life and the impossibility of understanding their pain.

It breaks with the Christian doctrine of suicide as a sin by reassuring the recipient "our compassionate Creator" understands the suicide and has "already welcomed" the loved-one "home".

The company makes it clear that the card is not macabre humour. It is to help friends and relatives to break the ice of a taboo subject with the family left behind by suicide.

"What these cards do is open the door to communication," said Ms. Bolton. The company thought that the approaching Millennium had increased the need to talk openly about "spiritual" matters and the card was "very much in tune with the times".

[Editor] The times they are a-coming, end times, that is. You don't believe the last of the last days are upon us? Read the signs. (Matt 16:3)

We have man altering the genes of God's creation, governments in control of public education advocating a "duty to die" philosophy. Professing Christian churches holding covenant services for same-gender (homosexual) couples, ordaining these unrepentant perverts to the ministry where they preach from behind the pulpit to "God's people"???

How about that? An "abomination before God" claiming to be a God called "minister of God". But--the Anti-Christ will claim to be God (2 Thess 2:4) and people will believe just as they believe today in his forerunners. Christ had John the Baptist, look how many the Anti-Christ has. People like Benny Hinn, Marilyn Hickey and scores of others working all sorts of signs and lying wonders.

READ THE SIGNS. There are many. Don't say you can't see the clouds on an overcast day. LOOK UP

Speaking of the Bible
Andrew Jackson said: "That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests".

Andrew Neckar says: "Amen to that, but not anymore".

A Preacher On The Fence

From out of the millions of the earth
God often calls a man
To preach the Word, and for the truth
To take a royal stand.
'Tis sad to see him shun the Cross,
Nor stand in its defence
Between the fields of right and wrong:
A preacher on the fence.

Before him are the souls of men
Bound for Heaven or Hell;
An open Bible in his hand,
And yet he will not tell
All the truth that's written there,
It haveth an offence-
The joys of Heaven, the horrors of Hell-
A preacher on the fence.

Now surely God has called the man
To battle for the right.
'Tis his to ferret out the wrong
And turn on us the light.
And yet he dare not tell the truth,
He fears the consequence.
The most disgusting thing on earth
Is a preacher on the fence.

If he should stand up for the wrong,
The right he'd not defend;
If he should stand up for the right,
The wrong he would offend.
His mouth is closed, he cannot speak
For freedom or against.
Great God deliver us from
A preacher on the fence.

But soon both sides will find him out
And brand him as a fraud,
A coward who dares not to please
The devil or his God.
Oh God, free us from fear of man,
From cowardly pretence;
Cleanse out the dross and fear of loss,
And keep us off the fence.

Touching My Heart

By Andy Neckar

Back in 1972 when my mother-in-law died, I told my three children that Nanna died and went to heaven.

My oldest son Andrew Jr. was almost four years old when I took them to the funeral home to view their Grandmother. After seeing his Grandmother in the casket, I noticed him looking about the room rather curiously, After awhile he said to me, "Daddy-is this heaven? I don't remember the answer I gave but I do remember the happening..

didn't know much about heaven at the time or whether any of us would ever get there. Back then we were Roman Catholics.

But , Thank God, He called us (all of us) out of her back in 1991-92 through the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ.

We believed, we were indwelled by the Holy Spirit, we were brought to repentance, we were born again, we were sealed unto redemption, we were baptized. We were His.

"Two pastor's wives sat mending their husbands' pants. One of them said to the other, 'My poor John, he is so discouraged in his church work. He said just the other day he was considering resigning. It seems that nothing goes right for him.'

The other replied, 'Why, my husband was saying just the opposite. He is so enthused, it seems like the Lord is closer to him than ever before.'

A hushed silence fell as they continued to mend the trousers; ONE PATCHING THE KNEES AND THE OTHER THE SEAT."

Folks, God's children need all the discernment they can assimilate. Please check the discernment resources offered in this newsletter. You probably need them and this ministry could use the result of the sales. If you yourself don't need them perhaps you could purchase some of the resources offered to present to others. We should all do what we can to benefit the brethren here in these last days.

This ministry ran two adds in the "Sword of the Lord" advertising a free Promise Keeper pamphlet by M.H. Reynolds of "Fundamental Evangelistic Association". The results of this endeavor were, and continue to be very fruitful. Many people are requesting this pamphlet. Those responding are what I call regular readers of the Sword, Churches, pastors and evangelists. (active and retired) The Lord is good.

God bless all of you as we eagerly await His coming.

See you next month.(if Jesus tarries)
